Every Rock Tells a Story

Each and every rock is a little piece of geologic history. They all have a story to tell. Some rocks have multiple stories to tell. This page highlights a few of those stories.

This metamorphic rock shows a series of events. after its formation, stresses causes it to fracture. fractures are generally a fairly straight line. this fractures acted as a conduit allowing fluids to flow through and precipitate a quartz vein. Then the rock underwent more stress, bending and warping the quartz vein. this one rock records a history of several different geologic events. And that’s before it even made its way into Lake Superior.
